It is little secret to anyone who follows football with any real interest that Spanish super club Real Madrid are looking for a goalkeeper. At this point they have been linked with half of the shot stoppers in Europe, but Hugo Lloris is one of the names closer to the top of their list.

However, Los Blancos will only make a move for the French international if his current club Tottenham fail to win a trophy this year, according to the Mirror. With a Premier League title already looking slightly too optimistic thanks to Manchester City’s scintillating form, and a defeat to West Ham sending Spurs tumbling out of the League Cup at the Round of 16, only the FA Cup and Champions League remain for the North London side.

Ironically, Tottenham topped their group in the prestigious European competition, thanks in part to a 3-1 win over Real Madrid at Wembley. Mauricio Pochettino’s side have been stunning in Europe, but winning the Champions League outright is perhaps a feat that is currently slightly out of reach. The FA Cup should be easier, so they’d better make sure they win it and keep hold of Lloris.

The shot stopper is in his sixth season with Spurs, and has established himself as one of the best keepers in world football. It will certainly be tricky to keep hold of such a talented player if Real do come knocking, but they know what they have to do.
